On Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2019, the “Real Housewives of New York” passed away after 12 seasons, upon star Bethenny Frankel announcing she was leaving the show for good.
The deceased was born to Bravo daddy Andy Cohen in 2008. Frankel, though she left the show briefly, was one of the few original cast members to remain on-screen to the end, as well as being the undisputed breakout star.
Frankel, after tragically murdering RHONY, will be spending time with her daughter, building her Skinny Girl empire and saving the world from global disaster through her charity, B Strong, per her statement to Variety.
RHONY’s sudden death shocked its many fans, coming out of nowhere, although it had been a rocky road as Frankel spent time estranged from the show while filming “Bethenny Ever After” (2010-2012) and “Bethenny & Fredrik” (2018), both of which RHONY now joins in cable heaven.
The ultimate housewife carried Bravo’s NYC franchise, since deceased, with her razor-sharp tongue, never-ending ability to hold a grudge and steel-trap memory of faux pas past (read when Carol’s boyfriend Adam declined to take pictures for her philanthropic mission to Puerto Rico).
Without her, Ramona Singer will likely drown in her glass of pinot grigio when she doesn’t get the best room at Bluestone Manner without anyone to check her, while Carol Radziwill training for a marathon will continue to pass muster as a season-long plotline.
Before it passed into obscurity, RHONY was at its height of the Bravo empire — with Frankel at its helm. It was her job to keep Countess Luann de Lesseps in line as she struggled with sobriety, and even paid for her rehab, which de Lesseps left two weeks early, dismaying Frankel. “Life is not a cabaret,” Frankel screamed at de Lesseps in the middle of a Miami restaurant, mocking the “Money Can’t Buy You Class” singer’s delusional stage-show mentality.
When Sonja Morgan, so drunk she was practically unconscious, fell out of her chair and slammed onto a marble floor, Frankel was the only one who thought to call EMTs and check Morgan’s purse to make sure she wasn’t on drugs.
With the only self-aware member of the cast gone and no one to volunteer to sleep in the fish room at Medley’s Berkshire mansion, the rest of the cast descended into a “Lord of the Flies” situation, fighting for relevance and Queen Bee-ship over the group.
The reality show will not be remembered for Tinsley “Survival Mode” Mortimer or contractor Barabra Kavovit, who spent hours on-screen this season, although she never got an apple in the first place.
RHONY is survived by Cohen, “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” and “Vanderpump Rules.”
The show’s funeral will be held on Twitter.
It will be missed by all.
