Love Island star Greg O’Shea left the villa on Monday in order to attend his grandmother’s funeral.
The 24 year old Irish star was jetted overseas to Ireland, and then immediately returned to Majorca to continue with the series.
According to The Sun, his dad Niall O’Shea told Limerick Live 95: “Greg is a very good family man and his mother wanted to make sure he was there because himself and his Nan got on well.”
His family is said to have been thankful that he was able to come home for the service.
A spokesperson for Love Island told OK! online: “Owing to a bereavement, at the wishes of his family, Greg was away from the villa for a day to attend a funeral. Everyone at Love Island extends their sympathies to Greg and his family and we have since welcomed him back to the villa.”
It’s not known if Love Island will make any reference to his departure during the show.
Greg has become a firm favourite in the show after Amber chose him to couple up with over Michael Griffiths.
The new couple have been seen getting closer in the villa, and recently shared their first kiss under the duvet covers.
Greg has also been given the green light and seal of approval from the most important people in Amber’s life.
Speaking exclusively to OK! magazine, Amber’s best friend Mart revealed how the 21 year old’s parents approve of Greg.
Mart said: “Yes, her mum thinks he’s a really nice guy. We’re really impressed with him so far.
“He’s exactly the type of person Amber would go for.
“They have the same humour and he gets her banter, which is what she needs.” Love Island continues at 9pm on ITV.
