Former The Only Way Is Essex star Lauren Goodger, 32, has candidly admitted fame gave her nightmares and anxiety.
Lauren, who had a rocky romance with Mark Wright, 32, while on TOWIE, revealed she suffered from the nightmares when she “first started in the industry”.
Speaking with new! magazine, Lauren said: “The paps used to hide in bushes outside my house years ago when I was in TOWIE.
“That’s when I first started getting anxiety,” she said. “It used to freak me out because it was so stalkery!”
She added: “They’d try to take horrible pictures that made me look bad when I came from a night out. They used to jump out at me.”
Lauren, who is set to appear on the next series of Celebs Go Dating, said she felt torn by the attention: “It was upsetting but at the same time flattering.”
The ebbs and flows of fame also got to Lauren, who could reunite with ex Mark for TOWIE’s 10th anniversary.
“TOWIE was initially based on mine and Mark’s relationship, so there was a lot of interest in us,” she said.
“And that’s what made fame so addictive. But equally, that’s what’s hard – one minute you can be so current and doing so much, and the next you’re not doing a whole lot. You can feel worthless.”
She also insists there’s “no bad blood” between her and Mark, who is now married to actress Michelle Keegan, 32.
Lauren, who exchanged messages with Love Island’s Tommy Fury before he went into the villa, says she’s now “happier and stronger” than she’s been in a a long time.
And it seems we need to watch out for more of Lauren, as she added: “I’m back. You’re gonna see me out and about more and I’m feeling good about it all.”
Catch Lauren with Meghan Barton-Hanson, Lee Ryan, Jack Fincham and other stars in the next series of Celebs Go Dating, which is expected to air soon.
