Now that we all have fairly fancy cameras in our pockets all the time, it’d be reasonable to expect the standard of everyday snapping to have raised considerably …erm, nope. Although people may have learnt a few tricks for keeping the phone slightly less visible in bathroom selfies or mastered the art of not dropping it right into their dinner as they go in for that perfect Instagram food shot, there are still some techniques they routinely cock up in the worst way, and the panoramic shot is one of those.

To take one of these wide-angle shots, you select the correct mode on the camera, start at the left of the landscape, and pan right following the line it gives you for guidance. It’s clearly a lot trickier than it sounds.
