The father of K-pop star Samuel was found “beaten to death” in his home Tuesday morning in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, authorities said.
Jose Arredondo, 58, who is the owner of a car dealership in Bakersfield, California was discovered dead with “signs of blunt force trauma,” police revealed on Wednesday.
“Sad news,” Arredondo’s friend Francisco Duran wrote on Facebook.
“I was thinking about quitting Bakersfield College back in 1995 when I saw him on TV. He was encouraging kids to stay in school. He changed my mind about quitting.”
Police were looking for a suspect in the killing.
Samuel, 17, was born in Los Angeles as Kim Samuel and currently resides in South Korea. On November 16, 2017 he released his first full-length album called “Eye Candy.”
A US State Department official confirmed the death of a US citizen in Cabo San Lucas and said, “We are closely monitoring local authorities’ investigation into the cause of death.”
