Sam Thompson has spoken out on rumours he’s feuding with his former best friend Jamie Laing, after Jamie said he was interested in Sam’s former flame Sophie Habboo on an episode of Made in Chelsea.
The boys were previously incredibly close, but speculation ran rife that the rumoured romance had caused a rift between the pals, and that the “betrayal” left Sam “devastated”.
But speaking exclusively to OK! online at the Caudwell Children Butterfly Ball 2019, 26 year old Sam decided to put the rumours to bed on what happened.
“Honestly, I was only going out with her for a very short amount of time. I think that… it’s a whole Made in Chelsea thing, it’s not to do with me,” he said.
“My name keeps getting brought up though, I was getting Google alerts about it… I haven’t even said anything about it either, as I don’t really think there’s much to say on my part.
“It’s got nothing really to do with me.”
Sam is now happier than ever having confirmed his romance with Love Island stunner Zara McDermott, and says he’s fed up of being brought up when it comes to the rumoured rift.
When asked if it bothers him having his name dragged into things, Sam responded: “Yes, because I’m focusing on so many other things.
“What’s annoying is when you get a Tweet from somebody saying ‘please, just let them be together!’ – I haven’t said anything!
“I think what happens is, when people feel slightly guilty about what they’re doing, like ‘oh we shouldn’t, forbidden love…’ – but no, by all means ,do it!”
Speaking about his romance with Zara, he said: “She slid into my DMs,” and admitted, “It was great and I’m glad she did.”
“Do you know what, I don’t want to say too much, but we’ve been on a few dates, it’s been a few weeks now.
“We’re not exclusive, because everyone in this game rushes everything! There’s no need to. If you rush into things, sometimes you make a mistake and it gets too intense… she’s a really, really lovely girl and she’s incredibly beautiful.”
