Love Island: Miss GB Kobi-Jean Cole PULLS OUT of show ‘out of respect for her title’ after previous winner Zara Holland was stripped of her crown

ITV match-making show Love Island is often hit with speculation of who is going in the villa, and season five is no different.

It was rumoured that the new series would see the return of a Miss GB champion, in the form of Kobi-Jean Cole.

The 23 year old was reportedly in talks to join the show, and follow in the footsteps of previous Miss GB winner Zara Holland – who was infamously stripped of her title after her appearance on the programme.

But now, the stunner has confirmed she won’t be making an appearance this year, out of “respect for her title”.

The news was confirmed by her personal trainer Matt Fiddes on Friday.

Taking to Instagram, he shared a post from Miss GB to his 231,000 followers which read: “OK everyone we have read and heard the rumours along with the rest of you, but we can confirm that Miss Great Britain is not, in fact, heading into to the Love Island Villa this year.

“There were some discussions regarding inclusion in this series between Kobi and the producers of Love Island during their casting process, but it was decided that out of respect for her title and the Miss Great Britain brand she would not be taking part.”

Zara was de-crowned of the title after she had sex with Alex Bowen on Love Island in 2016.

The news led to Zara making the decision to quit the hit ITV2 show, saying: “I haven’t committed a crime, so why should I have my title taken from me? It’s horrific.”

In a statement issued, Miss Great Britain organisers said at the time: “We feel we have no choice but to make this decision under the current circumstances.

“Although Miss Great Britain is the oldest pageant system in the UK, we pride ourselves on promoting the positivity of pageants in modern society and this includes the promotion of a strong, positive, female role model in our winners.”

Love Island kicks off on Monday 3 June.
