Celebs Go Dating bosses have reportedly cancelled the wrap party for the show following the tragic death of former contestant Mike Thalassitis.
Mike, who appeared on the E4 show in 2018, was tragically found dead in woodland near his North London home on March 15, leaving his friends and fellow reality TV stars devastated.
According to reports, show bosses felt it would be “inappropriate” to celebrate the final of the show so soon after Mike’s passing.
The Love Island star’s ex girlfriend Megan McKenna, as well as his close friend Sam Thompson, appeared on the show this year and both have paid tribute to the late former footballer.
Kerry Katona revealed the news in her new! magazine column, saying she and her former cast mates were “devastated”.
She wrote: “The Celebs Go Dating wrap party was postponed last week in the wake of what happened.
“Obviously Megan McKenna wouldn’t be there, and I know Sam Thompson’s devastated. It just feels like the whole thing wouldn’t be appropriate right now.”
The show paid a poignant tribute to Mike just one day after his death as they shared his image at the end of the episode alongside the words: “In memory of Mike Thalassitis 1993-2019.”
They also shared a statement on Twitter reading: “Everyone here at Celebs Go Dating are shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of our dear friend Mike. Our thoughts and condolences are with his family and friends at this very sad time. Rest in peace Mike.”
Mike was set to appear in the forthcoming series of Ex on he Beach, which has now been axed following his death.
In a statement, MTV said: “Last year, Mike took part in filming for the next series of Ex on the Beach, which was due to air on MTV later in the year.
“In light of the news of Mike’s death, we have decided not to broadcast the planned tenth season of the show.”
