Today, Michelle Monaghan has her pick of the runways — but the actress remembers the thrill of buying her first expensive designer piece.
She still has the precious dress from nearly 20 years ago, and was shopping for more wardrobe wonders Monday at the Carolina Herrera show at New York Fashion Week.
“Everything was flowy, feminine, bright and full of joy,” the “Mission: Impossible” star told the Post after the runway extravaganza. She sat in the front row near Shailene Woodley and Camilla Belle and not far from Herrera herself, who watched the presentation by creative director Wes Gordon. “I loved all the color.”
As for that prized purchase, by now it’s vintage. “It was an Oscar de la Renta dress,” said Monaghan.
“I’ve worn it over and over and over again. It’s floral, with little pintucks and pockets and it bells out into a beautiful tea-length skirt. It’s absolutely gorgeous.”
Monaghan said her 10-year-old daughter, Willow Catherine, will inherit it one day. The tween especially loves to play dress-up in her mom’s closet, piling on the accessories. “In a few years, she’ll be stealing everything!”
