George Clooney has hit out at media treatment of Meghan Markle , comparing it to that of Princess Diana and saying: “We’ve seen how that ends”.
The actor, 57, attended Meghan’s wedding with Prince Harry last year – and has spoken out about her treatment in the papers ever since.
Speaking at an event in Los Angeles, the Hollywood star said: “I do want to say, I just saw this piece.
“They’re just chasing Meghan Markle everywhere, she’s been pursued and vilified.
“She’s a woman who is seven months pregnant and she is being pursued and vilified and chased in the same way that Diana was, and it’s history repeating itself. And we’ve seen how that ends.”
It comes following reports George and his wife Amal are reported to be in with a chance of being godparents to the royal baby.
It has been reported that George and Amal are front-runners to be godparents to Meghan and Prince Harry’s baby upon its arrival in spring.
Amal, 40, and former actress Meghan, 37, are thought to be close pals, which has led the way for Harry, 34, and George, 57, to bond.
The ER actor’s cousin has opened up on the silver fox potentially taking on his biggest role yet – of being a godparent to the royal child.
Ben Breslin, told the Mail Online: “I’m all for it. He’d make a wonderful godfather, he’d make a wonderful just about anything – he’s a good guy.
“Amal is beautiful and wonderful and a great addition to our family. We’ve loved her ever since we met her. He sure picked a winner with her.”
An insider also told the publication: “Amal and Meghan have been close for years, and Harry and George have become buddies because of that.
“They’re much closer than the headlines let on.”
