Wes Nelson has slammed ex girlfriend Megan Barton Hanson after she appeared to blame him for their split.
The Dancing On Ice star split from his Love Island girlfriend two weeks ago after a turbulent few months, in which Megan publicly accused dance partner Vanessa Bauer of tactically breaking up with her boyfriend before their TV appearance.
Megan has since revealed that she doesn’t think Wes ever loved her, and claimed he didn’t fight for their romance enough.
However, Wes has now opened up in an exclusive interview with OK! magazine, insisting their decision to split was a “mutual” one and called her claims “silly.”
He said: “To say I didn’t fight for her is silly because it was a mutual decision.
“I didn’t just say, ‘That’s it. I’m done.’ Fight for what? We both ended the relationship. If she wanted me to say more or do more that day I didn’t know that.”
20 year old Wes went on to admit that he still loves Megan, who he was with for six months following the end of Love Island, but that she wasn’t the right person for him.
He said: “Of course I still love Megan. You can’t just drop the feelings after a week of being split up, but loving someone doesn’t mean that they are the right person for you.”
Megan has since revealed that she believes Wes and Vanessa will get together and their romance “will be rubbed in her face.”
“It wouldn’t shock me if they got together. They’re both so career driven. They do have a lot in common,” she told The Mirror.
“If that’s what they do, then it’s up to them. It would sting a little bit. It wouldn’t be nice.”
However, Wes has insisted there is nothing going on between the pair.
“People have said, ‘Why don’t you get with Vanessa?’ I see it in my comments all the time, but for one has anyone ever asked me if I fancy her?” he said.
“No I don’t. Vanessa is not my cup of tea.”
Vanessa had also her own say, insisting she would be happy to meet up with Megan – and that there were no hard feelings.
Speaking to The Sun, she said: “I have acted very professional [but] I honestly don’t know her, I bet she’s a lovely girl.
“I would love to meet her. She would be welcome to any of our training sessions but I never got the chance to meet her.”
