Ben Foden has spoken out after his ex-wife Una Healy revealed she had moved on with Wasps Rugby team physiotherapist David Breen.
The Saturdays singer – who broke things off with the father of her children after rumours he had cheated on her – took to her Instagram page to unveil her new man only weeks ago, the very same year her relationship with Ben came to a close.
The pair were together for ten years and have two children, Aoife Belle and Tadhg, together.
Now, Ben has spoken out after the confirmation of the pair’s budding new romance – and confirms he and Una are remaining civil for the sake of their children.
“Our relationship is actually quite good,” he told Now. “I stay at the family home whenever I want to see the kids.
“We’re keeping it civil and hopefully we can remain friends. We’ll always have a future because she’s the mother of my children.”
He then added he was heading across the pond to play rugby, adding: “I signed for New York Rugby United so things are going to change. It’s just exciting – a different change of pace, something that’s really needed.
“I’m sure Una wouldn’t mind a little holiday in New York. She’ll drop the kids with me and then she can go and enjoy the sights.”
Una and new man David were previously linked after she was spotted cheering on his team during a game, before joining him and his family in the clubhouse after.
Over the Christmas holidays, she posted a picture with David captioned: “I have tried to hide him but he’s too tall.”
Una confirmed her split with husband Ben in July with a statement released by her representative.
It read: “I can confirm Una and Ben have separated and she’s in Ireland with her mum and kids, but there will be no further comment to make.”
At the time of the split, sources said: “She has now decided it’s over. She’s utterly heartbroken and devastated, but she’s very traditional in her outlook.
“She thought their marriage would be forever, but can’t see a future for them any more.”
