Olivia Newton-John’s manager has responded to shock claims that she only has weeks to live.
The Grease actress, 70, was diagnosed with breast cancer for the third time in September, informing fans of her condition in an emotional post.
While Olivia has kept reasonably tight-lipped since the announcement, her manager has now been forced to give an update on her wellbeing, amid claims that her condition is deteriorating.
Speculation began after Radar Online shocked fans by claiming her diagnosis was terminal, and she had just weeks to live.
An insider reportedly told the publication: “Olivia’s bodily functions appear to be shutting down, but she refuses to let go until she makes it through [her daughter] Chloe’s wedding day.”
However, her agent Michael Caprio swiftly shut down any concern, as he told The Sun the reports were “hilarious” and assured fans that Olivia is not dying.
As she announced her cancer diagnosis last year, Olivia seemed confident that she was going to beat the illness once again.
Speaking on Australian TV’s Sunday Night, the legendary actress said: “My husband’s always there, and he’s always there to support me, and I believe I will win over it and that’s my goal.”
Olivia went on to reveal that she has cut sugar out of her diet following the news, and is using homegrown cannabis alongside common medicines to tackle the disease.
Her husband John Easterling is founder of the Amazon Herb Company, and grows cannabis at their Californian ranch.
“Initially I had a lot of pain. I don’t have pain now,” she said. “I’m so lucky. I’m married to an amazing man who is a plant medicine expert.”
Olivia was first diagnosed with the disease in 1992, and then fought it again in 2013 – keeping it a secret from fans.
While Olivia most famously played Sandy in Grease, she has since released many number one hit singles and toured internationally.
