Idris Elba-led drama Luther returned to screens this week for its fifth series, leaving fans delighted as Alice Morgan was confirmed to still be alive.
On Wednesday evening fans continued to see Ruth Wilson on screen as the villain, and her antics have led viewers to call for Alice to team up with Killing Eve’s Villanelle.
Assassin Villanelle, played by Jodie Comer, had viewers gripped during her time on the BBC On series, with the show set to return this year for a brand new instalment.
Rushing to social media as Alice’s latest scenes aired, fans begged for the two ladies to team up – or take each other on.
Taking to Twitter, one posted: “My ideas for a new TV show: Alice and Villanelle team up as a double act – or go up against each other as duelling assassins… #Luther #KillingEve.”
While another wrote: “Imagine if #KillingEve Villanelle and #Luther Alice teamed up #GirlPower #LoveThem.”
“Who’d win, Villanelle or Alice? #KillingEve vs #Luther,” added a third.
As a fourth pleaded: “Can they do a #Luther #KillingEve cross over?! Alice and Villanelle take over the world.”
During the first episode of Luther season five, which aired on New Year’s Day, The Affair actress Ruth returned to screens as everyone’s favourite killer, Alice.
The character, who first appeared in the first series after killing her entire family, was revealed to be dead during the last season four years ago but Luther, and fans, remained convinced she was still alive.
The rumours were then confirmed to be true on Tuesday night as the final scenes of the grisly episode saw Luther open the door to his flat to find an injured Alice outside.
Luther continues Thursday and Friday at 9pm on BBC One.
