It was confirmed earlier this year that a death is set to rock the characters of Coronation Street, as someone will be killed off in the upcoming collapse of the factory.
Now, speaking exclusively to OK! Magazine, Michelle Connor actress Kym Marsh has teased who will be killed off, and whether she’ll be sticking around on the soap.
She said of her future: “Career-wise I’d like to stay at Corrie. There’s lots of drama in the new year, including a collapse in the underwear factory and there are reports that a much-loved character dies.”
Despite hinting it won’t be Michelle who is killed off, Kym remained tight-lipped on who the tragic character could be, though she did reveal who she doesn’t want to see go.
She admitted: “I’d hate it to be either of my work besties, Alison King and Antony Cotton,” who play Carla Connor and Sean Tully respectively.
Show producer Iain MacLeod recently teased what effect the factory stunt will have on the cobbles, saying: “We’re knocking the factory down in March in a colossal big stunt. At first it will appear to be an accident, but then it’ll be revealed to have been some kind of criminal enterprise that has cause the roof to fall in.
“This is a community story – everyone is out of a job, so they’ll be lots of lifestyle and financial stories spinning out from this story.”
Meanwhile, Coronation Street cast including Audrey Roberts actress Sue Nicholls have been pictured filming scenes for the funeral of Lewis Archer.
Lewis, played by actor Nigel Havers, was killed off in a twist on New Year’s Day when Audrey returned to his home to find him collapsed on the floor in the bedroom, and realised he had died.
Now, characters including Audrey, daughter Gail Platt and grandson Nick Tilsley will attend his upcoming funeral.
Amid speculation from fans that conman Lewis might not actually be dead, new pictures appear to suggest he really has left the show.
Coronation Street continues on ITV.
