Shipwrecked, hailed as one of the original reality shows of the 2000s, is returning to screens for a brand new series in 2019.

The series was a huge hit for Channel 4 during its eight season run, with the programme seeing two teams of contestants, Team Tiger and Team Shark, battle it out to take home a huge cash prize.

Now the show, which originally ran for three series between 2000 and 2001 before being revived in 2006, is set to return to E4 with a whole bunch fresh faces to front the brand new series when it makes its comeback.

When does Shipwrecked 2019 start?

No official start date has been announced yet, however, it has been confirmed that the series will begin in “early 2019”.

The line-up is currently being kept under wraps, but it’s thought that the cast will be revealed shortly.

In the past, stars like Stephen Bear appeared on the series so no doubt we’ll be seeing a lot of the contestants in the future.

A trailer released in December confirmed that the series will include a Battle Of The Islands twist meaning that, like in previous series, two teams will be battling it out for the prize.

The reality series sees two groups of castaways battle it out on two uninhabited paradise islands in the South Pacific, competing in the ultimate popularity contest for a chance to win £50,000.



The two tribes, Sharks and Tigers, will fight to win over new arrivals to their islands, with the largest tribe at the end of the competition taking home the prize money.

E4 Controller Karl Warner has said of the new instalment: “Shipwrecked changed the game, and we’re very excited about the new series that confidently shakes up reality TV once again.

“Thanks to the amazing creative team behind the camera, a diverse cast of characters and the brilliant talents of Vick Hope, the new series has all the ingredients for a fresh blast of sunshine and surprises to kick off a hugely exciting year ahead on E4.” 

Who will narrate Shipwrecked 2019?

Capital FM presenter and Strictly Come Dancing star Vick Hope has been confirmed as the narrator for the all-new series.

“I’m chuffed to be voicing the all new series of Shipwrecked,” she said in a statement.

“I was such a fan of the show back in the day on T4, and my friends and I would be so invested in all the tribal twists and turns on Shark and Tiger Island, so it’s a real honour to get to have the first sneak peek at winter’s hottest reality show.

“There are some amazing characters, epic bombshells and lovely waves of nostalgia ahead.”
