Rio Ferdinand has knocked off a whopping £2.5 million from his Cheshire house in order to sell it, following his engagement to Kate Wright.
The house, which he originally shared with his late wife Rebecca Ellison and their three children, was originally put on the market for £4.5 million, but the price has since been cut on multiple occasions.
The former Manchester United star firstly cut the price of his seven bedroom, six bathroom period home to £3 million, before later knocking off another million.
Rio’s property also features two garages, and 1.5 acres of lawns, as well as a swimming pool, Jacuzzi, and plush private gym.
An insider told The Sun: “This house holds many happy memories. But Rio’s life is in London and he’s trying to move on.
“He got engaged to Kate recently with the blessing of his children and there is no need for them to keep hold of this place 200 miles away.”

Rio’s latest bid to sell his home comes after he recently announced his engagement to former The Only Way Is Essex star Kate.
Rio asked Kate to be his wife in Abu Dabi, Dubai, in front of his three children, Lorenz, 11, Tate, nine, and Tia, six, and the blonde bombshell shared the gorgeous moment with her 913,000 Instagram followers.
“The perfect end to our holiday … How could the answer not be yes,” she wrote.
Rio then took to his own Instagram page to share the delightful news, writing: “She said yes! How these 3 kids kept it a secret I’ll never know.”
The pair have been loved-up ever since they started dating in 2017, with Kate recently revealing how she was getting on becoming a step-mum to his three children.
Opening up on her role, the blonde beauty said she “couldn’t imagine” life without the kids, who tragically lost their mother Rebecca to cancer in 2015.
