Noel Edmonds kept viewers entertained with his claims and wild stories while on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
However, one of his tall tales has been refuted by a local council who have called out the Deal or No Deal host.
Larger than life Noel claimed that he has been using a tactic in his hometown of Bristol to beat the traffic and congestion in the city centre.
Noel said he bought a black cab initially so that he could drive in the bus lanes, but after he was found out and stopped, he discovered another way.
The personality said he now uses a double decker bus to get around town, because he can again use the bus lanes.
But Bristol Council has now said their bus lanes are only for licensed buses, and are not for the whims of celebrities.
Noel, who has became the first contestant voted off the show this year, said his wife Liz purchased the black cab and driving in bus lanes shaved an hour off his morning commute.
It was a great plan until the council found out about it and installed CCTV cameras all over the city centre to catch him.
He told campmates: ”So having got the ticket, I didn’t take my cab in the bus lane.
“I did what any sane person would do. I bought a bus. I’ve got a Routemaster bus.
“One of the extraordinary things about licensing in the UK is that you can drive it on a car licence, as long as there are no more than nine people on board.”
The jig seems to be up for Noel, though, as a Bristol City Council spokesman told the BBC: “While the penalties we issue aren’t a touch on bushtucker trials, our bus lanes are just for licensed buses, taxis and cyclists, not celebrities.”
