I’m A Celebrity favourite Anne Hegerty has opened up on the reason she’s single, after being diagnosed with autism.

The Chase star recently opened up to her campmates about her condition, with viewers praising her as an inspiration.

Now, in a chat with co-star John Barrowman, Anne explained all about her relationship status.

Confirming she was single, Anne revealed her autism was part of the reason for this.

She explained how her diagnosis made her realise why romances had not worked out for her in the past.

Anne said, asked if she had a partner: “No I don’t.

“When I was working out that I was autistic it clarified a lot of things for me and one of those things was ‘that’s why I never seem to be able to make it work, that’s why I always feel claustrophobic in a relationship.’ 

“‘That’s why I kind of think that’s probably not intended for me.’”

Anne and John then bonded over their love of Doctor Who, with him previously playing Captain Jack in the series.

She discussed her autism diagnosis during the launch on Sunday evening, having previously opened up on her condition.

Anne said on the show: “When you’ve grown up always knowing that there’s something that seemed to be different about you from most people and not being able to understand until my mid-forties that what we were talking about here was autism, I’ve had to learn an awful let about myself and what I can and can’t do and what I can or can’t cope with.

“At the moment I’m quietly panicked.”
