Reports surfaced on Thursday that Red Dwarf actor Danny John-Jules had left his Strictly Come Dancing partner Amy Dowden “in bits” with his confrontational attitude and vicious words.
It came just hours after he jokingly admitted he “hated” training with Amy, who has never progressed so far in the BBC One show, and told how he cracked the “whip” during rehearsals.
Danny, who has claimed he entered the competition purely to fall foul of the relationship curse, was reported by The Sun to have bluntly told Amy: “I’m the star, not you.”
A source told the publication: “Danny swears and shouts at Amy a lot. She’s in bits.
“Amy’s been crying constantly at the hands of Danny.
“He gets very angry in the training room and he swears and shouts at her a lot.”
Hours after the reports broke, Danny referenced the claims on his Instagram by posting an iconic image from the movie, King Kong.
He shared a poster of the movie ape looming over a scared woman and wrote in the caption: “My new CV just arrived”.
Fans appeared to throw their support behind Danny as one person wrote: “It’s ridiculous! Keep going ! Your way above the crap that’s being told!”
Another person said: “You’re a teddy bear and a gentleman good luck for Saturday.”
A third follower said: “Keep your head up and stay positive u have our support.”
