Pride of Britain 2018: Joe was awarded for his bravery [ITV]

The pair’s kayak capsized off the coast of Anglesey earlier this year, leaving both of them in a life or death situation.

Dad Paul initially told son Joe, then 13, to sit on the upturned kayak, planning to tow him to safety. Shortly after, as the pair began to kick themselves to shore, Paul lost consciousness.

After reaching surrounding rocks, Joe bravely jumped back into the water realising his dad urgently needed help. Joe was able to drag Paul back to the rocks, before performing CPR on his dad.
