Demi Lovato has returned to social media for the first time since leaving rehab – four months after a near-fatal drug overdose.
The Sorry not Sorry singer, 26, spent two months in a rehabilitation facility after she was rushed to hospital after being found unconscious in her Hollywood home. It was later reported that the the incident was caused by oxycodone “laced with fentanyl,” and it could easily have been fatal.
But after weeks away from the spotlight, Demi has now revealed she’s home from the rehab centre – and used her online presence as an attempt to get people to vote in the US election.
Standing in front of a voting booth with a smile on her face, she wrote to her 70.4 million Instagram followers: “I am so grateful to be home in time to vote! One vote can make a difference, so make sure your voice is heard! now go out and #VOTE!!!!”
And fans were overwhelmed with the former Disney star’s grand return, with one writing: “Yes queen! So happy you are back and healthy!”
“Oh my gosh, hope you feel great as you just look! Waited so anxious for you to come back, may God bless you,” another wrote, while a third added: “Welcome back Demi! We missed you!”
Her post comes after it was claimed that Demi suffered “substantial damage” following her overdose.
A source exclusively told OK! online: “After Demi suffered her overdose, there was a substantial amount of damage done to her voice.
“Damage has been done to her voice and her vocal strength. She will recover and be back to the singer we know and love, but at first she will need some care to assist with her voice.
“Obviously when a person’s body goes through the kind of trauma that Demi’s did, it’s a real shock to the body.”
Demi’s mum, Dianna De La Garza, also recently spoke out on her overdose, claiming that the singer’s life hung in the balance for two days.
Speaking to Newsmax TV, Dianna said: “We just didn’t know for two days if she was going to make it or not. I was very concerned, and I was trying to be strong for her and for her sisters and for my family back home.”
